CTI

I had a interesting weekend!
Got to spend 4 days with these people already and it's getting more exciting.

Met the CARPENTER'S TOOLS INTERNATIONAL,
an all American music team, all the way from USA!

Here's a little bit about the team!

(left from top)

Ernest Lam
Guitarist
18

A hands down, straight up, goofy Californian. He plays the acoustic and electric guitar and is in his 2nd year of college. Spanish speaking, Cantonese understanding, interested in anything music related, having deep conversations, meeting people, eating, sleeping, laughing, photographing, singing, drawing, admiring and breathing. We're speechless at the limitless options as to what you can do with him.

Nan Chen
Bass Guitarist
21

This future lawyer also plays the bass guitar, guitar, violin, clarinet, sousaphone and piano. Mandarin, Spanish and Korean speaking, he serves the homeless of Chicago through making and delivering food. Talk about a big heart. He also likes to eat and marvel at God's creations. Picnic at the Botanic Gardens, anyone?

Jason Zwart
Sound Tech
16

Jason Zwart, 16, is the youngest team member. A native from New York, he likes aviation and F1 racing. On his first time out of USA, he's excited to meet new people and try new things. Take him out for some fun-filled gravity ride down the Sentosa Luge!

Paul Vasilko
Drummer
24

Paul is from a rural part of Illinois, in the Midwestern portion of United States, but he's no country bumpkin. Having traveled to play music in places such as Guatemala and various places in Asia, Paul is now in Singapore for the very first time! A serious musician for the past 15 years and a concerned world citizen with a degree in Political Science, Paul takes the time out to just have fun with Ultimate Frisbee. Game, anyone?

Kyle Brons
Vocalist
19

Kyle sings and has been performing with a band in local shows back in Iowa. A serious musician, Kyle has studied music all through high school and has been singing in choirs for the past 6-7 years. His vocal skills are sure to impress so come check him out! You might want to let him experience some of our own local talents, like Project Superstar 2.

Brad Wynveen
Keyboardist
22

An accomplished pianist, Brad has been playing since 9. He's so good, he even plays at weddings. Brad also likes acting in theatre and drama performances. Why does Brad want to study Psychology and Criminal Justice, together with Music in university? Could it be his love for adventure? Help Brad in his latest adventure- his first time out of the USA :)

Michelle Kikkert
Vocalist
19

A second year major in Art and Psychology, Michelle is from a large loving family and is one half of a pair of twins. Passionate about many things: music, painting and drawing, snowboarding, camping trips, playing violin and guitar, photography and soccer. She's been on various musical groups and teams since she was 6. She might be keen on the International Asian Art Exhibition now at the Singapore Art Museum!

Gretchen Ehret
Vocalist
23

A Californian in her last year of college, she loves working with high school students and teenagers. This love is borne out of a close-knit Christian family has led Gretchen to serve as a youth leader in her church. This is her second time out with Carpenter's Tools and she is looking forward to meeting even more young people from Singapore! That's her passion. What's yours?

Brooke Pearson
Vocalist
21

From a small town called New London in Minnesota, she is now a university major in Music. She sings, plays the saxophone, guitar and piano! She even does music recording like a sound engineer! Young at heart with a heart for the young, she loves to meet and invest in people. Good music, good food and good conversation are welcome!

Ashlee Simpson//Pieces of Me

On a Monday, I am waiting
Tuesday, I am fading
And by Wednesday, I can't sleep
Then the phone rings, I hear you
And the darkness is a clear view

Cuz you've come to rescue me
Fall. With you, I fall so fast
I can hardly catch my breath,
I hope it lasts

It seems like I can finally rest my head on something real
I like the way that feels
It's as if you know me better than I ever knew myself
I love how you can tell

All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me

I am moody, messy
I get restless, and it's senseless
How you never seem to care
When I'm angry, you listen
Make me happy it's your mission

And you won't stop til I'm there
Fall. Sometimes I fall so fast
When I hit that bottom
Crash, you're all I have

How do you know everything
I'm about to say?
Am I that obvious?
And if it's written on my face
I hope it never goes away

On a Monday, I am waiting
And by Tuesday,
I am fading into your arms
So I can breathe

mission stef-possible

a simple lunch meeting at northpoint today became a mission to find stef's spaghetti top.

all coz of a spaghetti top, stef forced me to town with her. i muz have been the most casual looking towner around.

and so we went to wisma to look see, then to far east plaza for her fav estella, did some window shopping, ate the sinfully delicious fried mars bar (i could feel my fats accumulating), went to marina sq (my millionth time there), crossed over to suntec (my millionth time there too), ate bravissimo ice-cream (yummm..it's the ice-cream ive been wanting you to try).

by now, i could already see a new visible layer of fat on my tummy. who's fault? ha.

then stef, the queen of shopping, finally bought her 16 bucks spaghetti...at giordano! ha.

mission accomplished!

i swear marina sq and suntec have now become my newest best friends.

yup, and this post is dedicated to my best friend. the one and only stefanie. who would go to the ends of the earth for a spaghetti top. ha.

Introducing the superfast, blogging, podcasting, do-everthing-out-of-the-box MACBOOK! Intel Core Duo, Built in iSight Camera, iLife 06 with iWeb, Glossy Widescreen, Built-in Wireless, MagSafe Power.

(Apple should sponsor me at least one Macbook for this ad)

It's white, sleek, light, and pretty! Wah if i dont buy I must be crazy! Picture's quite insignificant la, doesnt say a thousand words, looks like the rest of the other versions, but Ive got some really positive and unbiased reviews about it already!!

Strong proponents of Apple books, Liansi and Randy have given persuasive recommendations. Also, Ive had excellent demo of Mac-in-action by Mac users, Jaclyn and Roy. It was a gd time watching the Mac-savvy people for the past 5 months in PArts. These are good enough testimonies! Plus the promise of ever present technical help (including software and free i-goodies etc.) available at EH. Plusplus outside PArts, Faith a fellow servant has offered to be my in-house Mac guide, if i ever get one and let her play with it. IFFFFFFF

I welcome useful comments here.

Disclaimer: [haha dunno anything and nv say much about Apple macbook disclaim already..but] I by no means am downplaying Windows' or windows laptops' capabilities. Heh I'm quite sure both platforms are equally powerful. No, it's true that both platforms are equally powerful.

the 5 hr nap

i went for my very first chalet yest.

the place stank.
ants invaded and conveniently made it their home.
which resulted in everything, including my bee hoon to be infested.
mosquitoes flew around like it was their bloody garden.
and landed on our legs to suck holy juice.

the bbq was quite a success, contrary to all my nightmares.
for those who didnt know, bbqwholesale.com is a damn useful webby.

other than having choir prac for >4hrs, i talked on the phone, listened to my zen and slept on the sofa for 2 hrs.
when i woke up, ppl who were playing mahjong were still at it and the person playing xbox was still at it too.
how interesting.

then i came home for my 5hr nap.

eventful huh.

pirates of the caribbean: dead man's chest was woo hoo!
basically coz of johnny deep, oops, i mean depp. haha.

oh yeh, tokyo drift has good action but a darn shitty plot.
and a 30 yr old acting as a 17yr old is not convincing at all.

i cant wait to go to butter factory or mos or watever this weekend.
anybody wanna see me shake my ass? haha.

A n o t h e r c h i l l y d a y

It's chilly today. Yesterday was chilly as well, and I hope it will be like that tomorrow. I like this weather. Unfortunately, so does everyone else. NTU felt cold and smelled grassy. The flights of stairs up the hill to Student Affairs Office nearly killed me. Student Affairs Office leh, the place where students with affairs go, there isnt much sense to put it up on a hill. We were talking about having a travelator. With the steep slope, it'll probably kill more people. Or, cablecars!- one of kel's brighter ideas.

The letter by one of Wild Empire's boss terrified me. HOW CAN ONE BE SO SARCASTIC. It's not nice! They're scaring people away! Especially me, torn between quitting, being an adhoc singer (if they allow) or going for practices whenever possible. It would have been a lot easier if i hadnt been stupid and promised a whole lot of things. 80 bucks is quite worth it if Im a regular. Cant believe those guys actually asked for refunds, it's embarassing. They should know that WE is poor and surviving on membership funding. Unless they are poor themselves, thats another issue altogether.

i feel like a little girl again

(this is my new msn display pic! i like it alot, i call it The Vine Garden. see the little wooden bench there? so cute hor. the whole pic is just so poetic. it reminds me of the beauty in solitude. yes solitude with God)

im so bored so im blogging. kelly says i only talk to her when im bored. (fine. so im talking to blog readers now) and i told her that she doesnt even talk to me when shes either bored or not. ha. it has been a long long while since i have been like this. it is good i guess. okay this shall be a ranting spill all post, with all sorts of rubbish i can think of till im tired and i need the bed. okay yays here goes.

i just finished msning, and msning takes up alot of my time these days because thats the only way to communicate clearly to people. you edit and proof read what you want to say before showing it. plus the fact that people are getting anti social, some say shy, nervous ok whatever you call it. i like it that we use this as a platform to get things going but not remain and rely on it too much. like i always said: msn is unhealthy. but i give in to it so much sometimes. i think alot of contact work and socialising's initial stages are credited to msn convos.

i realised my thoughts flowed quite naturally, aha thats the secret to 'effective' blog typing. never stop and think, just type. whatever that comes to your mind. aha! aha!

okay now i need to think.
i have so many things i wanna say! to touch and go, touch and go and not go too much into details you know? cos it's always dangerous to leak info here because you've got this dangerous group of people called The Blog Readers. They blog serve and read your blogs without tagging! So you'll never know that they know. like one day norman came and said he knows and hope it didnt invade my privacy. hello. thats why it's called a blog, not a diary. and btw the 'alter ego' is no longer here, she has gone and found herside her own site. shes still obsessing over her lost love. sighh

kel just said Again? when i told her that im blogging.
(im kel-ing alot in my posts.)

ok. i'll start stefi-ing.
btw adriian if ever you're reading this. HELLO

happening happenings

happening Happenings that are not so happening but more happening then the usual Happenings

friday
It was my last day of work x( but nothing much happened, except Shannon came and Ben could join proj serve :)

saturday
I totally forgot about Shannon and Romans Trail. noon- went out with Kelly to buy baby present for Aunty Kath, we went to Tangs Isetan and got some Little Prince baby clothes set and mittens that say I love Mummy on one and I love Daddy on the other.. at discounted rates. Had to get some presents for the supervisors too. Im too broke but i like getting presents. Got these ugly keychains for Roy and randy, a purple guitar and drums with the letter R. So appropriate! Im regretting it alittle cos they look cheapo and i dont think roy and randy will hang them on their phones :

Went for Wild Empire. I think the concert title's gonna be Happening Happenings. Songs are quite okay, (mission impossible sounded lame! kel you know what i mean) Ms Ong pulled my ear!! Cos Sheena didnt tell her I wasnt going for 2 weeks. (plus weeks to come) She tried my range, it has shifted higher and my middle range's bad due to placement. Too much pop singing? Problem with moving my jaw alot and lousy with oo-s and yu-s. Kek and i are total opposites now, shes impossibly Low and im pretty High (i think)

First time being invited to a buffet at hotel by someone MYEXBOSS other than my relatives. Stuffed myself with sashimi, rojak and salad at parkview hotel. bitter sweet memories came flooding back when i saw aunty jocelyn, wenzi, lao ban niang and CLAIRE. It was so awkward, they want us back when we've graduated. Yeah if im that that desperate. Im beginning to feel that everyone thinks im stupid for choosing lit, i shall just say im studying English next time. Saw a very red and weak baby Nic(k), short for Nicodemus.

sunday
Felt sleepy at church today.
Told uncle Jeffrey im joining BibleQuiz. A face off with my longterm phobia, I dont know what made me say that. Today Geoklian made a comment about Literature being depressing :D I said I know

Have decided to stay at hall.
This starting of a new phase is Freaking Me Out.
